3. With that DrupalconParis Session page as the focus of your browser, click on your newly installed "Chat About This!" (freenode) bookmarklet to join the backchannel conversation about that DrupalconParis Session. :o)

How to join backchannel discussions without the bookmarklet

If your browser/IRC setup isn't compatible with the bookmarklet, you can always just connect your IRC client to chat.freenode.net, then type the "/join" command listed below for the session you are interested in.

Problem IRC clients:

Xchat for Ubuntu, Xchat for Windows Vista, X-Chat Aqua for OSX

XChat takes the "encodeURIComponent"s of the backchannel bookmarklet a little too seriously. If you want to connect to the same DrupalconParis IRC backchannels as everyone else, use this bookmarklet → "X-Chat About This!" (freenode). If you can't get Firefox to trigger XChat at all, see: http://linux.byexamples.com/archives/318/how-to-trigger-xchat-from-firefox/. Also, be aware that XChat has trouble establishing a connection to more than one browser-triggered URI at a time.

Mibbit

Freenode, Undernet, and Quakenet block all Mibbit clients. Other IRC networks also set limits on how many Mibbit clients can connect to their network. See http://wiki.mibbit.com/index.php/Problem_Networks for more info.
